The NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies has developed a breakfast series during which topics of relevance for Africa and those interested in Africa will be addressed. Experts in their fields will be invited to convey their points of view.
As stated by the authors of Making Africa Work, tourism is one of the most – perhaps the most – promising sector for many African countries, because it offers a possibility for the creation of a large number of jobs, especially for new entrants to the labour market. Unfortunately, some African tourism markets are perceived as difficult to access, and some are seen as having security challenges. Cherisa Kwong, entrepreneur from Singapore, and Mark Aikiriza, entrepreneur from Uganda, have started up tourism startups in East Africa. They will complement each other during the African Angle Breakfast Session of 7 March with an African and Singaporean perspective on increasing awareness of Africa through tourism.
Attendees can expect to gain insights into the following:
-
The tourism opportunity in East Africa
-
Challenges experienced in starting operations in East Africa
-
The market in Southeast Asia
-
The market in Africa
-
