Understanding sanctions regulations and how these may affect your business is becoming increasingly important in today’s ever- changing and fast-paced world. This is especially so if you deal regularly with foreign counterparts and engage in cross-border transactions.

The seminar on 10 October (Wed), hosted by international law firm Kennedys Legal Solutions, addresses pertinent sanctions related issues including:

  • Recent developments in global and US sanctions regulations – including changes to the Iran sanctions following US’s withdrawal from the JCPOA and the implementation of the EU updated Blocking Regulations

  • US and other foreign sanctions regulations that a Singapore company may be exposed to – without even realising it

  • Significant sanctions cases affecting Singapore businesses: Chinpo Shipping, CSE TransTel, ZTE Corporation and others

  • A comparison of the different approaches taken by the US and Singapore regulators in enforcement of sanctions regulations

  • Sanctions compliance issues to consider when deciding if a transaction is “safe” to enter

  • How to manage exposure to sanctions risks

The speakers at the seminar are Karnan Thirupathy and Andrew Cook, both lawyers with Kennedys Legal Solutions’ leading Sanctions and Compliance Practice Group based in Singapore, and Nathan Wheeler, Managing Director of LSR Services.
