Connecting Singapore businesses with South Asia

Singapore Business Federation (SBF), in collaboration with Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), are pleased to present the South Asia Business Seminar: Connecting Singapore businesses with South Asia opportunities.

Senior representatives from SCB, including the Commercial Banking Heads for Singapore, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, will be present to share insights on the latest developments and opportunities in South Asia. They will also discuss strategies that can support successful ventures into the region. A business networking session will follow.

India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, among leading countries in South Asia, offer plenty of opportunities thanks to their strong economic development and a young growing middle-class population. In addition, the governments have stepped up on efforts to improve the ease of doing business and investing in their countries.

India

Trade linkages between Singapore and India have grown with the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the recent appointment of the Singapore consortium, comprising of Ascendas-Singbridge and Sembcorp Development, as the master developer for the building of the commercial core of Andhra Pradesh's new capital city Amaravati.

Bangladesh

The Bangladesh government has stepped up their efforts in attracting foreign businesses and investments by establishing the 100 Special Economic Zones(SEZs) in Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka

Singapore and Sri Lanka signed a free trade agreement in 2018 to deepen economic ties and facilitate greater trade flows between the two countries.

With the recent developments, sectors in South Asia such as Infrastructure, Urban Solutions, Building and Construction, InfoComm and Communication Technology (ICT), Transport and Logistics, Education, Hospitality and Tourism, as well as Professional and Outsourcing services offer tremendous opportunities. Join us for this seminar and networking session to gain more insights on the available opportunities and strategies needed to succeed in South Asia.
