Expanding & Operating Internationally In A VUCA World

This is a 1-
day virtual learning programme. Upon successful registration and payment, registrants will be sent a Zoom link and access details of the online workshop.

Overview

"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change" ---- Charles Darwin

Coined by the US military in 1987 to describe the ever-changing and unpredictable environment faced by them back then, the term VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) has since been often used to characterise the increasingly competitive business world brought about by evolving consumers' behaviours and disruptive technologies.

Course Outline

Juxtaposed against key global trends such as digitalisation, climate change as well as challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic, business owners, executives and professionals alike are all looking towards achieving better business "sense-making", overcoming inherent weaknesses, enhancing existing strengths and creating new competitive advantages to capitalise on new emerging opportunities presented by these key trends as they seek out new overseas markets.

In this 1-day workshop, empirically proven frameworks and interactive group exercises would be used to guide participants in developing an internationalisation plan in such VUCA environment. At the same time, the trainer will share practical, useful internationalisation tips from his vast international experiences (ranging from China, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Africa to Latin America) in managing business operations in real estate, design and consultancy, investment as well as deep-technology sectors.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the workshop, participants would be able to :

- gain clear perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of internationalisation in a VUCA environment
- take practical steps to plan and execute internationalisation and market entry strategies
- learn about the myriad of challenges associated with running international operations, in particular corporate governance and cultural issues. They will also learn effective and practical measures to mitigate them.

Who Would Benefit

Business owners, Senior / Managers or working level executives who are in strategic planning roles, responsible for international business development and operations
