The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and its Africa Business Group (AfBG) cordially invite Singapore-based companies to the Guinea – Singapore Business Forum 2017 on 2 Oct (Mon), organised in conjunction with the visit of H.E. Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, Minister of State for Investment and Public-Private Partnership, and a high-level accompanying government and business delegation on the occasion of the Republic of Guinea’s Independence Day.

The delegation will share more on the developments in Guinea; sectors of opportunities and projects available for Singapore companies; how Singapore companies can access potential local partners in Guinea; and the conducting of business there. Winning International Group, presenter of the Forum and Singapore’s largest investor in Guinea, will also share its experience doing business in Guinea.

Guinea is located in Western Africa, between Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone, and is home to a population of 12.9 million with a GDP per capita of USD 1,300. It possesses two-thirds of the world’s bauxite reserves and the largest untapped high-grade iron ore reserves, as well as gold and diamonds. It has also been earmarked for its agriculture potential, given its fertile soil, ample rainfall and source of several West African rivers.

Guinea’s economy grew by 5.2 percent in 2016, and is projected to grow by 4.6 percent in 2017. Trade features prominently in its economy, with the total value of exports and imports amounting to 78 percent of its GDP. Its National Economic and Social Development Plan (PNDES) 2016 – 2020 focuses on governance, transforming the economy, developing human capital and sustainable management of the country’s resources. It projects median growth at 6.5 percent for this period.

In addition, a Guinea Special Economic Zone is being developed in the Boké region. It will be a modern 200,000 population township, situated next to two ports and located at the heart of the mining, infrastructure and logistics investments in the region. The project is spearheaded by Winning International Group and includes other international investors from United Arab Emirates, China, United States of America and the International Finance Corporation.

Opportunities for Singapore companies lie in agriculture and agribusiness, mining and associated services, light manufacturing, construction and related services, infrastructure (including water and waste treatment), affordable housing solutions, textiles and logistics.
