SMEs employ around 70% of our workforce and contribute about half of Singapore’s GDP. As the economic outlook remains unpredictable, companies may hold back their plans to develop or enhance their internal capabilities and choose to focus on tiding through this challenging period.

We do not know what would happen next, and when the next upturn will come for Singapore companies. However, we know the importance of strengthening our companies, so that they are resilient to the changing business conditions and are prepared to respond when unexpected risks and opportunities emerge. The Singapore Business Federation is facilitating companies’ capability development on this front, in addition to its concurrent appointments by SPRING Singapore on enterprise resilience standards and Partnership for Capability Transformation (PACT). We hope more SMEs and their partners and customers from large organisations can collaborate for continuity in 2017, be it for business continuity, compliance, cyber security, employee branding, innovation, people development, productivity, risk management, technology and succession planning.
